Cold related disease kills three lives in Kurigram.

Cold related disease killed three persons including two children in Kurigram Sadar Hospital in deference of five hours and some children are taking treatment claiming cold related disease here.

The deceased were identified as Mahin, 1, son of Khairul Hossen of Kaley village under Sadar upazila, Murad, ten months, son of Ruhul Amin of Jamuna village under Ulipur upazila and Panchami Rani, 70, wife of late Ramesh Chandra of Baidyar Bazzar village under Rajarhat upazila of the district.

According to Kurigram Sadar Hospital sources, some disease including Pneumonia, Asma, Diarrhoea and Neonatal Sepsis are being most active causing cold wave and dense fog. Most of children and old men are being affected with the disease in the district. Victims Mahin and Murad died in Neonatal Sepsis disease at about 8.40 pm on January 25 and Panchami Rani died in CVD (cardiac) disease at about 1.25 am on January 26 in the hospital.

24 children are taking treatment in Child Ward and 24 children and one old man in Diarrhoea Ward in the hospital till today (January 26).

Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital Dr. Nazrul Islam told that Neonatal Sepsis is mainly a blood related disease. The two children died in Neonatal Sepsis.

One minor girl raped in Kurigram.

A four-year minor girl (Jemi Khatun, daughter of Jahid Ali) was raped at Hatia union under Ulipur upazila of the district and admitted in Kurigram Sadar Hospital for treatment including medical test.

The rapist was identified as Anisur Rahman (class-seven student), son of Mozammel Haque of Hatia Baga Para village of Hatia union under Ulipur upazila.

According to police and local sources, the victim’s grant mother (Zarina Khatun, 60) with her (Jemi) went in neighborer Mozammel Haque’s yard to dry paddy at about 12.05 pm on January 24. At a moment the rapist Anisur Rahman took away in his bed room and raped her. After some times she came into her grant mother to crying and known about the matter. Her grant mother informed to Anisur Rahman’s mother.

At about 3.00 pm on the day she was admitted in Ulipur Health Complex. Next day (January 25) the health complex authority referred her to Kurigram Sadar Hospital for again medical test and better treatment.

Elder brother of Jahid Ali, Lal Babu who is taking care of the victim as foster-daughter. Lal Babu filed a rape case (case no. 19 & date- 25.01.2011) with Ulipur police station against Anisur Rahman. She was admitted in Kurigram Sadar Hospital at about 5.00 pm on January 25. Now she has been kept under treatment in Gyne and Maternal Ward of the hospital.

Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital Dr. Nazrul Islam said to The Daily Star, “A medical team has been formed for quarrying rape. Its samples have been taken. We could confirm the rape tomorrow (January 27) through the proper test. Its test also was done in Ulipur health complex and the reports have been placed here. We do not want to comment about the rape matter today. Kurigram Police Super came in the hospital and observed the victim”.

The police super Md. Mahbubur Rahman said to The Daily Star, “I went into the hospital to observe her and requested physicians to gave batter treatment her. I ordered the Ulipur thana to arrest the rapist immediately”.

Two unnatural dead bodies found in Kurigram.

Kurigram thana police rescued two unnatural dead bodies within the last two days in Kurigram Sadar upazila.

One body was identified as Harun-Ar-Rashid, 45, son of late Fazal Uddin of Shibrum (Pramaniktari) village under Kathalbari union and another was identified as Kafil Uddin, 14, son of Tayab Ali of North Kadomtola village of Pachgachhi union and a class-six student of local Nayarhat Dakhil Madrasah under Sadar upazila of the district.

Police and local sources said Haru-Ar-Rashid went into Kathalbari Bazzar on Tuesday evening (January 20) but then he was not found later. At yesterday morning (January 24) local people found his body in a pond of the nearest village Goyari under the same union and informed the police. Police rescued the body and sent it to Kurigram morgue at the noon.

The victim’s family sources said a quarrel was going on with his younger brother on a disputed land and a case was filed with the thana in this connection.

In another incident, Kurigram Sadar thana police yesterday (January 23) rescued a beheaded body of a madrasah student from riverside of the Dharla river at Pachgachhi union under Kurigram Sadar upazila. The body was sent into Kurigram morgue.

Police and local sources said the student (Kafil) went to his house adjacent ‘Shulkur Bazzar’ to recharge his cell phone on Monday evening (January 17) then he was missing. At about 2.00 pm on Sunday (January 23) some local people found his body in riverside of the Dharla while they were going to their works in cultivated land following the riverside.

Then the brutal incident was informed to the thana police. Police rushed into the spot and rescued the body as the beheaded. Later the body was sent into Kurigram morgue to autopsy.

Local people identified the body as Kafil Uddin, 14, son of Tayab Ali of North Kadomtola village of Pachgachhi union under Sadar upazila of the district and a class-six student of Nayarhat Dakhil Madrasah in the same union.

According to police and local sources, after evening on Monday (January 17) the student (Kafil) went to his house adjacent ‘Shulkur Bazzar’ to recharge his cell phone then he was missing. At about 2.00 pm on Sunday (January 23) some local people found his body in riverside of the Dharla while they were going to their works in cultivated land following the riverside.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of the thana Md. Taharul Islam told this correspondent that local people identified the body. It was a brutal killing. The incident of killing could not be known immediately. We would confirm the cause of killing after proper investigation, he added.
